Garett County will provide a more comprehensive approach to address at risk youth involved with criminal behavior and/or truancy issues.  This program will continue providing families with referrals regarding local human services and offer ongoing support through resources and requests for navigation services, as well as some care coordination services for families/youth with intensive needs.   This program will allow maximum benefit from community based organizations and support services.    The new Diversion for Youth and Family Navigation program is designed to link families with the appropriate services as well as address at risk youth involved in potential criminal behaviors that could later warrant incarceration concerns.

Navigation services may include (as requested by the family): urgent assessment, administration of the CANS Assessment, care management, help with completing applications, making appointments, and identifying and addressing service capacity issues.   Interagency partners will collaborate to maintain and improve protocols for the “no wrong door” strategy, and to provide navigation and intensive care coordination services for families with very intensive needs.
