This is a fantastic idea! These former patients will feel a renewed sense of worth as they work to help others. Someone I know recovered from cancer and was saddened when another patient she met during her chemo treatments passed away. She asked herself why she was spared and not her friend. Being able to help others may help her believe she was spared so she could help someone else.
