The Reading Station 5 years agoJust saw this report released to day about reading and mathematics assessments in 4th and 8th grades. Of note, students have lost ground in the reading assessments, including the state of Maryland.
Losses were steepest for the students who struggle the most, not surprising. See the whole report here: https://www.nationsreportcard.gov/

Child and Adolescent Wellness Workgroup 5 years, 1 month agoThis is the suggested parent permission form for the middle school youth. In the form, a side-by-side comparison of the parent and adolescent versions of the survey are mapped out. If we use something like this, the parents will be completely informed of the minor differences between the two versions. Please give feedback.

After reviewing these versions of the surveys (parent and adolescent), I see something we can improve upon.
The final question asks for choices from a list of problem-oriented reasons to speak to a health care provider.
I suggest we add some to this list that are wellness-oriented. For example:

Vaping 5 years, 2 months agoMichigan has just banned the sale of flavored vaping products in retails stores and online.
In addition, San Francisco is the first city in the country to have banned sales of vaping products altogether.
