HIV/AIDS awareness is supported by providing educational/informational material on a variety of platforms, including MyGarrettCounty.com, social media, and outreach events. Establishing community partnerships to promote and market rapid testing allows the identification of sero-positive individuals who will benefit from early identification and linkage to care.

Health disparities are related to the social determinants of health: poverty, disability, healthcare access, education, disability, and stigma. Efforts to increase HIV/AIDS awareness/education to improve health equity and decrease stigma will include: promotion of HIV education/awareness, development of community partnerships and HIV care linkages, rapid HIV testing events, and Ryan White non-medical case management.
