The Local Behavioral Health Authority is the management entity for publicly funded mental health and substance related disorder services. The agency strives to improve these services for residents of Garrett County, works to better integrate existing services and expand currently available services. We also assist persons in receiving medication, transportation to services, housing, and employment.

The Garrett County Local Behavioral Health Authority has responsibilities of leadership, management, oversight, and operations for publicly funded behavioral health strategies and services in Garrett County.

Vision: Facilitate the continuance of a consumer-focused behavioral health system in Garrett County that is comprehensive, coordinated, and accessible to achieve optimal health outcomes.
Mission: We will promote quality-driven treatment, support, and rehabilitation to foster recovery, resiliency, and health and wellbeing for emotional, substance, gambling, and/or mental health disorders.

Goal:

Increase access to care, improve quality of care, and promote coordination of care in the Public Behavioral Health System.

Strategy Description:

The Garrett County Behavioral Health Authority (GCBHA) has responsibilities of leadership, direction, management, and education for publicly funded behavioral health services in Garrett County. Behavioral Health services include mental health and treatment for substance use disorders and support aspects of care.  The GCBHA also has administrative and planning functions for the Local Management Board, Governor's Office of Crime Prevention, Youth, and Victim Services. GCBHA staff is constantly researching opportunities that will provide additional funds to improve the mental health services to residents of Garrett County. The agency works to better integrate existing services and expand services that are currently available. GCBHA also assists persons in receiving medication, transportation to services, housing, and employment. GCBHA is funded through grants from the Mental Hygiene Administration of the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.
