WORKGROUP ON CHILD AND ADOLESCENT HEALTH
December 1, 2021
VIRTUAL MEETING MINUTES

The meeting was called to order at 8:31 a.m. by Dr. Karl Schwalm.
HEALTHY WEIGHT AND GO HEALTHY CRELLIN
52 students, grades Kindergarten, 2nd, and 4th
- 2 underweight
- 29 healthy weight
- 12 overweight
- 9 obese
49 students had their blood pressure taken. It showed 25 had an elevated reading. 7 of the 9 obese students had an elevated reading. The school nurses will recheck the high blood pressures. There was discussion of the underlying issues for the elevated blood pressure readings.
DIABETES WORKGROUP
Treat Obesity First is a CME course offered to providers covering the foundations of obesity. When a person is first diagnosed, they would be taught healthy options and living with diabetes.
CHILD MENTAL HEALTH
- Dr. Schwalm would like to address Grand Rounds and meet with the providers
- Bring in speakers to address treating child mental health issues
- Train Primary Care Providers to prescribe and treat with education and treatment
- Need to get the word out to organizations using radio spots. Mary has agreed to record announcements.
With no further business to discuss, the meeting adjourned at 9:06 a.m. The next meeting is scheduled for January 5, 2022. |
