WORKGROUP ON CHILD AND ADOLESCENT HEALTH February 2, 2022 Virtual Meeting Minutes   THOSE PRESENT Fred Polce, Jr., GCHD Jennifer Brenneman, GCHD Susan Mills, GCHD Laura Robinson, MDH Dr. Karl Schwalm, Retired MD Mary VanSickle, GCPS John Corbin, GCHD Dr. Sotiere Savopoulos, Cornerstone Kendra Thayer, GRMC Amy Ritchie, GCHD Amber King, Wellspring Family Medicine Sabrina Tasker,Mindful Roots Amy Fike, Lighthouse Ula Slider, MD Coalition of Families Kimi Scott-McGreevy, GRMC Dr. Stephanie Sisler, Lovelight Pediatric   UPDATES Go Healthy Crellin - The school nurse has done two blood pressure readings on the students that had shown elevated levels.
  • Three 4th graders had an elevated blood pressure
  • The school nurse contacted the parents and instructed them to call their PCP
Dr. Schwalm, Amy, and Dr. Corder will meet to decide if this should be recommended to other schools.   Interview with WKHJ - Mary and Dr. Schwalm had a 30 minute interview with Connor Norman that aired on Sunday morning at 7:30 a.m. to discuss the concerns of child mental and behavioral health, and the available resources.   On February 11, a similar interview will be done with Dr. Schwalm and Amber to discuss healthy weight in children and adolescents.   Ground Rounds - Next Friday, Dr. Schwalm, Kelly Rock, and Amy will present the status of mental health in children in the county,  to stress this is a critical issue, and to let them know what they can do.   ORGANIZING A MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS CAMPAIGN May is Mental Health Awareness month and ideas were discussed on ways to address issues and raise awareness.   Links were posted for ideas:   Go!
