Looks like flu activity is increasing and it won’t be long until we see more cases right here in Garrett County. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention just released a report stating that as of December 15, the nation is seeing more flu-like illness and, sadly, 7 pediatric deaths related to influenza so far this season. The pesty strain called H1N1 is causing severe and significant sickness. With more flu to come, it is time to get a flu vaccine if you haven’t done so. Flu vaccination is recommended for anyone 6 months and older. You can walk in to the Garrett County Health Department, Monday – Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm for flu vaccine (we still have a pretty good stock available). Or call us at 301 334-7770 for more information. Don’t let the flu be your welcome into the new year!
