This group is designed to outline the data of several programs overseen by the Garrett County Department of Environmental Health.
Private on-site Sewage Disposal: A septic system is constructed for a home with no access to public sewage disposal. This office is responsible for every facet of the system from percolation testing to final installation inspection.
Air Quality: An air quality control permit, also known as burn permit, is something issued to an individual by the Department of Environmental Health. A burning permit is required for all open burning, except for small recreational fires such as campfires, for outdoor cooking of food and fires associated with agricultural practice.
Nuisance: If an individual is concerned or negatively impacted by actions of his neighbor they may file a complaint with Environmental Health. This complaint will trigger a site visit and if the party is found to be guilty, corrective actions will be taken.
