Data Narrative

Number of law enforcement personnel trained in Mental Health First Aid: Garrett County Office of the Sheriff; Maryland State Police; and Oakland City Police are invited to participate in the scheduling of and training for Mental Health First Aid sessions. This training strategy is incorporated into the Crisis Intervention Team approach for Garrett County Law Enforcement. The ability for law enforcement to participate has been limited, over the past two years, due to limited schedule availability for both road patrol officers and detention center staff.
Number of Monthly Urgent Care Referrals having verified follow-up by the Garrett County Behavioral Health Providers: This measure is currently based on individuals seen through the Garrett Regional Hospital Center Emergency Psychiatric services and agree to an Urgent Care Referral being sent to the Garrett County Center for Behavioral Health.
Utilize data to support and/or enhance workforce initiatives for individuals in recovery: This measure has been archived, as it may be more appropriate as a Group rather than a measure in fiscal year 2020. Garrett College submitted an Opioid Workforce Development Grant proposal in May 2019. Additionally, the college offers a Certified Addictions Counselor course of study.
Number of incarcerated individuals served that have a behavioral health disorder: This measure includes individuals that have a psychiatric and/or substance related disorder and are sentenced to the Garrett County Detention Center. During Fiscal Year 2019 (July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019), the number of individuals receiving Mental Health services changed to a Quarterly Reporting measure from November through the end of June, 2019. The number of individuals served will be higher in December 2018; March 2019 and June 2019 due to the combined quarterly number of Mental Health Services added to Addiction Services in those same months. This was due to staff vacancy and Mental Health services not being provided for two months.
Number of Continuing Care/After Care Plans developed for individuals being released from the detention center, who received Behavioral Health Services: measure has resulted from individuals being released who may have limited access to follow-up behavioral health and other related supports, including safe housing, referrals for employment and reinstating entitlements.
Mental Health First Aid training sessions provided to general public: Goal is to provide at least three training sessions.
Adherence to Contractual Conditions of Award by program vendors: Measure is based on Quarterly Monitoring reports received from contract vendors and Annual Contract Monitoring completed by Behavioral Health Authority staff. This provides accountability for our agency and the vendors providing behavioral health services which are not reimbursable through fee for service funding mechanism.
Services provided through a Community Health Worker employed through Garrett Regional Medical Center.
Number of referrals suggested to individual being discharged from Emergency Department.
Community Health Worker verifying the number of referrals in which the individual followed through with services.
