Community News: Marylanders Online – Bridging the Digital Divide in Rural Communities Webinar

NERCRD is please to kick off its 2025 webinar series with this exploration of innovative strategies and initiatives aimed at increasing internet access and digital literacy in Maryland’s rural areas. We’ll be joined by University of Maryland Extension’s Teri Mumm and Julie Slivka (see below), who will share their experiences and insights on: – Current challenges facing rural Maryland in terms of internet connectivity and digital literacy. – Successful programs and partnerships that have improved digital access. – Strategies for enhancing digital skills and adoption in rural communities. – The impact of increased connectivity on rural economic development, quality of life, and social determinants of health. This webinar is intended for policymakers, community leaders, educators, and anyone interested in rural development and digital inclusion. A New Resource Is Available For Garrett County! 2025 – 2027 Garrett County Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) The 2025 – 2027 Garrett County & Surrounding Region Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) has been published and is now available to browse online at https://mygarrettcounty.com/cha2027/. We are incredibly appreciative of the growing participation from our community. Meaningful conversations and devoted partnerships frame the phases of this project to help create a resource that can be utilized for impactful community progress! Now, the assessment is yours, and we invite you to review the report, explore the new zip code insights, try out the data analysis tools, and join/create action groups to work together on these topics! Stay tuned for more updates over the following weeks highlighting the priorities within and data findings. There’s a lot to unpack, and we can’t wait to dig in!
