During AmeriCorps Week 2017, March 4-11, communities will celebrate the contributions that 80,000 Americans make to their communities and the service of more than 1 million AmeriCorps alumni.
Derek Silbaugh, Bethany Meyers, and Marie Lauver are among more than 70 A STAR! in Western Maryland AmeriCorps members who have served through the Garrett County Health Department since 1994.
In the past six months, the three half-time members have volunteered 1,453 hours in our community- increasing academic engagement among 70+ after school participants, educating hundreds of Garrett College students, and giving out hundreds of books through the Literacy in the Laundromat project.
