The Administrative Care Coordination Unit (ACCU) is available to provide assistance to all individuals who have Maryland Medical Assistance including those recipients enrolled in a Managed Care Organization (MCO). The current MCO’s in Garrett County inclue Maryland Physicians Care, Priority Partners, Amerigroup, and United Health Care. Depending on one’s type of insurance coverage, an individual may have one or two insurance cards. A fee-for-service medicaid card is red and white in color. If an individual is enrolled in a MCO, they will have the fee-for-service card, along with their MCO insurance card. Both cards should be given to an individuals provider when they are attempting to access care (medical, dental, vision, emergency room care).

The goal of the ACCU program is to improve the health and well-being of medical assistance recipients in Garrett County by providing assistance with access to care and utilization of services appropriately. Emphasis is on short-term care coordination for the following vulnerable groups: pregnant or postpartum women, homeless, newborns and children, children with special needs, adults with special needs, and family planning beneficiaries.

Please contact Tiffany Fratz, ACCU Coordinator and Ombudsman, regarding any medical assistance issues. I can be reached at 301-334-7695 and am located in the Personal Health Division of the Garrett County Health Department.
