Vaccines for Adults and Children’s Docs 2022-2023 Vaccine Requirements for Enrollment in Early Learning and School Pre-K-Grade 12 in Maryland

All children must have the required State of Maryland immunizations in order to attend school. Parents are responsible for providing proof of immunization to the school prior to the student attending or proof of an appointment for necessary immunizations within 20 calendar days of the first day of school.

Childhood and Adult Immunizations are available for all ages at the Garrett County Health Department in Oakland and in Grantsville.  Appointments are required.  Please call 301-334-7770.

Garrett County Health Department is partnered with The Maryland Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program. The program has been in operation since October 1994. To date, the program has more than 750 providers enrolled who practice at 1,000 public and private practice vaccine delivery sites throughout the State.  The program is designed to remove cost as a barrier to vaccination, this program allows enrolled physicians to provide all routinely recommended vaccines, free of cost, to children 18 years old and younger who:

  • are Maryland Medicaid eligible;
  • are uninsured; or
  • are Native American or Alaskan Native; or
  • are underinsured (children with health insurance that does not cover immunization).
