Meeting Minutes

 

THOSE PRESENT:  Amber King, Fred Polce, Jr., Jennifer Brenneman, Dr. Karl Schwalm, Susan Mills, Dr. Stephanie Sisler, Amy Ritchie, Dr. Phil Lauver, Amy Fike, John Corbin, Rebecca Aiken, Beth Brenneman

 

Dr. Schwalm called the virtual meeting to order at 8:34 a.m.

 

Dr. Schwalm submitted a letter to the editor of The Republican that should appear in this week’s edition.  The Republican is still interested in printing an article.  A draft article will be posted in the action group for feedback.

 

Dr. Sisler recorded a video on the difference between a well-child check-up and a sport’s physical.  It can be viewed on mygarrettcounty.com in our action group.

 

Dr. Schwalm spoke to Dr. Miller who used to give free sports physicals to high school students.  Dr. Schwalm would like to address the board of education about sports physicals vs well-child check ups.  Becky recommended that he meet with Paul Edwards, the sports trainers, and the sports educators for Garrett County Schools.  Dr. Sisler and Amber King agreed to join Dr. Schwalm at the meeting.

 

Dr. Schwalm will reach out to Shelley about getting on the next Health Planning Council agenda to address the group about behavioral health issues and the trickle down affect it has on the community.  It involves the parents, to the children, to the schools, to the community, etc.

 

Dr. Schwalm will collaborate with Dr. Sisler, Brian Bailey, Sabrina Tasker, Jennifer Brenneman, and Susan Mills to put together a video to address the behavioral health resources in Garrett County.

 

With no further business to discuss, the meeting adjourned at 9:19 a.m.  The next meeting is scheduled for December 2 at 8:30 a.m.
