John F. Kennedy Apartments was constructed and opened in August 1967 as a premiere elderly residential facility. Many improvements have been made over the years including a recent exterior restoration, remodeled elevators, updated heating and lighting systems and much more. It is conveniently located in downtown Cumberland within easy walking distance to many amenities including several restaurants, banks, etc.
This eleven story building, the tallest building in Cumberland, is home to 100 rental units consisting of 40 efficiencies and 60 one bedroom units. This facility is primarily designed for senior citizens. The facility contains many amenities all handicapped assessable such as two elevators, a community room, outdoor seating, on site commercial laundry facilities, indoor mail receptacles, intercom system and more. John F. Kennedy Apartments is a Non Smoking Community and does not permit smoking in the rental units nor on the grounds. The community is well lighted with a video surveillance system.
