Join Jennifer as she receives her first of two doses of the Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine with Garrett County Health Department’s Director of Nursing, Jennifer Lee-Steckman. Garrett County’s healthcare heroes are lining up to take the COVID-19 vaccine as we prepare for additional phases in the community vaccination process. This video highlights the COVID-19 vaccination process from arrival to post-vaccination observation, and provides an inside look at what to expect at a vaccination site. (Please note, while this clinic was held at GCHD’s Oakland Office last week, clinics are currently being held at the MEDCO Building, by appointment only.) UPDATE! – Posted at https://garretthealth.org/health-department-is-making-great-progress-on-vaccination-but-supply-is-limited/ by the Garrett County Joint Information Center Team The Health Department reports that it has vaccinated nearly all health care providers and public safety personnel that are in the priority population. As additional vaccine becomes available the Health Department is working with local partners to identify the very highest risk populations, including those in assisted living facilities, group homes, and licensed Social Workers who have been added to the highest risk group. As indicated in Governor Hogan’s latest press conference, the State anticipates moving to Phase 1B, at which time all persons age 75 and older, as well as education staff will be able to register for vaccination. Vaccinations are being given by appointment only, which must be made by your attending medical provider. Do not come to a vaccination clinic without an appointment. Proof of age and proof of Garrett County residency will be required. The Health Department is NOT keeping a list of people who want to get the vaccine. When vaccine appointments become available for different segments of the population, the Health Department will announce qualification requirements and instructions on how to schedule an appointment. Please watch media outlets, the Health Department’s Facebook page or website (garretthealth.org) for updates. Current as of 1/6/2020 – 12:30PM Previous Notice: (See current above.) Vaccination appointments are currently being scheduled for frontline healthcare workers and first responders. Please stay tuned to the Garrett County Health Department’s website for press release updates as the COVID-19 vaccination process progresses. If you believe you are in an extremely high risk category, please contact your primary healthcare provider for information on availability of the COVID-19 vaccine. The Garrett County Health Department does not have a waiting list, and is only able to schedule appointments for frontline healthcare workers and first responders at this time. Current as of 1/6/2020 – 11:30AM As we prepare for the upcoming community vaccination process, we encourage everyone to consider taking the COVID-19 vaccine when it becomes available to them in order to protect themselves and each other.
